在中学英语中，句型“ It is ...that...” 是高考考查的重要内容之一，其相关句式较多，用法容易混淆。以下我将对这一句型及相关句式作一归纳，以便参考。
1. It is/was +序数词+that从句。意为是第几次（天，周......）如：
It is the first time that I have been here.
这是我第一次到这里来。
It was the second time that he have written to a foreign pen friend.
这是第二次他给一位外国笔友写信
2. It is/was+被强调部分+that/who.这一句型可以强调除谓语动词以为的任何部分。
如It was he who(that)read three books in the library yesterday.(强调主语)
是他昨天在图书馆读了三本书。
It was three books that he read in the library yesterday.(强调宾语)
他昨天在图书馆读了三本书。
It was in the library that he read three books yesterday.(强调时间状语)
在图书馆他昨天读了三本书。
3.It is /was+形容词/名词+that从句。其中，it是形式主语，that从句是真正的主语。如：
It is possible that he can't come tomorrow.
有可能他明天不能来。
It is a great pleasure that you are here.
你来到这儿，真令人高兴。
注意:在It is important (necessary, right, strange, natural…) that句型中，that后的从句中要用虚拟语气（should+动词原形）should 可以省去。
It is necessary and right t that one (should) master the skill of operating computers so as to meet the need of a job.
为了找工作?掌握电脑操作技巧是很有必要并且是很重要的。
4. It is +过去分词 (said，reported, learned...)+ that从句。其中，it 是形式主语，真正的主语是that 引导的从句。该结构译为“据说（据报道……）”
It is said that the professor has already succeeded in carrying out the experiment.
据说这位教授已成功地完成了这个实验。
It is reported that a lot of people lost their jobs in the city last month.
据报道，上个月这个城市的许多人失业了。
5. It is+过去分词 (suggested ,ordered...) +that从句。其中，该句型和上一句属一个句型。主句中的过去分词是表示请求、建议、命令等词时，that后的从句要用虚拟语气 （should+动词原形）。可以省略，常译为“据建议，有命令……”

6. It is +一段时间+since从句，意为“自从.....有多长时间了”。 其中要求since引导的从句必须采用一般过去时，而主句是一般现在时或现在完成时。该从句的谓语动词是瞬间性动词时，从句正常翻译；而如果该从句的谓语动词是延续性动词作，从句必须作否定翻译
It is two hours since he left the classroom.
自从他离开教室以来，已经两个小时了。
7. It was / will be + 一段时间 + before从句。在 “It was + 一段时间 + before从句”句型中，若主句是一般过去式，从句也是一般过去式时：若主句是肯定句，翻译成“过了多长时间之后才……”，若主句是否定形式，翻译成“没过多久就……”
It was long before they found their son.
过了很久他们才找到他们的儿子。
It was not long before the couple met again.
没过多久这对夫妻就见面了
8. It is time (about time, high time)+ that从句。that后的从句应该用虚拟语气，注意的是：常用过去时态表示虚拟，有时也用should+动词原形，should 不能省。常译为“是……的时候……”
It's time （that）we went to bed.
我们该去睡觉了9. It is + a pity (a shame......) that 从句。that后的从句一般用虚拟语气（should+动词原形），should可以省去，表示出乎意料，常译为“竟然”。
It is a pity that such a thing (should) happen in yourself.
这种事竟然发生在你们身上真是遗憾。
